     A collection of sauces, dressings, spices, and marinades made exclusively by Kent Rathbun for the home chef.  Kent Rathbun Elements are easy to use and will transform any dish into a culinary masterpiece. Exclusively available beginning April 22, 2010 in all Central Market Locations, Abacus, Jasper's, Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen, Zea WoodFire Grill, and on the Kent Rathbun Web site at www.kentrathbun.com. Rathbun fans will have the opportunity to obtain the following list of products:

BBQ MONDAYS AT RATHBUN'S BLUE PLATE KITCHEN





     With fun summer weather upon us, Kent Rathbun and his innovative culinary team have introduced one of life's simple pleasures to Preston Center...backyard barbecues!   On Mondays, Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen will roll out the Big Daddy smoker and host BBQ Mondays for lunch and dinner.

     "I can't think of a better way to spend a summer day than to be standing over my smoker full of chicken, pork and beef waiting to feed my friends, family and guests," said Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen Executive Chef/Partner Kent Rathbun. "BBQ Mondays will introduce a mouth-watering smell of barbecue across the neighborhood and I know guests will have a hard time to resist the limitless choices of tasty goodness."

     Partake in one of America's favorite summer pastimes at Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen for its all day Monday barbecue for $11.99.  Featuring three different choices of smoked meats prepared with one of Kent's signature blend of flavors from the Kent Rathbun Elements line of products (Texas Peach Barbecue Sauce, Honey-Teriyaki Barbecue Sauce and Ancho Chili Barbecue Sauce), guest will choose a meat or combination platter served with choice of one side item, homemade bread and butter pickles, and cornbread sticks served with butter and Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen's specialty jams.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Kent Rathbun's Smoked Shoulder Pork Sliders
Serving Size: 8

For The Baste:

1/2 cup Kent Rathbun Elements Ancho Barbecue Sauce* (or your favorite prepared sauce)
2 cups Champagne vinegar
 
For The Pork:

1 10 -12 lb. pork shoulder
8 tbsp. Kent Rathbun Elements Family Barbecue Rub* (or your favorite prepared rub)
8 tbsp. Kent Rathbun Elements Steak & Chop Salt* (or your favorite seasoned salt)
1/4 cup olive oil
 
For The Sliders:

24 small slider rolls (Chef Rathbun prefers soft potato rolls)
4 oz. butter, melted
1 cup bread & butter pickles, drained
 2 cups Kent Rathbun Elements Ancho Barbecue Sauce
 
Directions:
 
1. Mix barbecue sauce and vinegar together and set aside for basting.
 
2. Rub pork shoulder with olive oil and season with barbecue rub and steak and chop salt.  Rub until all seasonings are evenly distributed.
 
3. Place in a wood smoker for 10 to 12 hours at 225?, basting every hour throughout the cooking process.
 
4. When smoking is complete, pull the meat apart with a fork.
 
5. Slice rolls in half, brush with melted butter and toast in a 350? oven or on a griddle.
 
6. Pile 2 oz. pulled pork on each bun, then top with bread & butter pickles and a bit of additional sauce.  Serves 8.
